Due to unsafe traveling conditions, Dr. Pelley is not able to make it to Moncton to deliver the public lecture scheduled for this evening (March 18). Therefore, it is with saddened hearts that we must cancel the event.
Please note, however, that we do still hope to offer this public lecture at a later date. To keep updated on this and any other events we host, be sure to follow us on social media and/or subscribe to our newsletter(s).
The social justice movement has been building in strength and influence over recent decades. Its messages of acceptance, equality, and justice have been the rallying cry of its strongest advocates. As Christians, we are called by God to serve those less fortunate and to advocate for those being wronged. What does it look like to partner with a movement that changes the definitions of the values we hold? Definitions matter.
In this public lecture, Dr. Emily Pelley will present the history of the social justice movement we see today and make a case for the importance of language. Everyone should leave with a better understanding of what different people mean by the terms used in the social justice movement, and of what social justice based in the Christian worldview should look like.
This free public lecture is happening at 7:00pm (AST) on Tuesday, March 18 at Crandall University (SH177). Doors open at 6:30 PM.
*Please note that Dr. Pelley will also be speaking on Wednesday, March 19 in Brinton Auditorium as part of Crandall University’s chapel program.
