One of the questions I brought home from the Jerusalem Summit was surprisingly simple: What can I do?Antisemitism can seem like such an enormous global problem that it’s easy to believe there is little one person can do to make a difference. But perhaps making a difference begins much closer to home.

It begins by getting to know our Jewish neighbours rather than simply talking about them. It means speaking up when antisemitic comments or stereotypes are expressed. It means teaching our children and grandchildren why hatred of the Jewish people must never become acceptable. And for Christians, I believe it begins with prayer.

Every morning, after I shave and get ready for the day, I pin a small lapel pin to my shirt bearing two flags—Israel and Canada.

As I pin it on, I pray aloud:

“I pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I pray for my Jewish friends and neighbours here in my city, my province and across Canada. I pray especially for the people of Israel—for their prosperity and blessing, for safety in their homes and victory over their enemies on every side. I pray for the ingathering of the Jewish people, for their restoration and salvation—that they too would come to know Yeshua, their Messiah.

Father, thank You that through the Jewish people we have received our Bible, our shared heritage in the God of Israel and, most of all, our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

It’s a small pin. A simple prayer. But every morning it reminds me that standing with Israel isn’t merely something I believe—it is something I choose to live.
