The Jerusalem Summit did both for me.

I Went to Jerusalem… But Came Home Thinking About Canada

I accepted an invitation to Jerusalem expecting to learn more about Israel. Instead, I came home asking what kind of country Canada is becoming.

Recently, I had the privilege of attending the Jerusalem Summit, hosted by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. Christian leaders from more than 30 nations gathered to confront the alarming rise of antisemitism, address growing theological confusion surrounding Israel, and reaffirm a biblical understanding of God’s ongoing relationship with the Jewish people.

One of the defining moments of the summit came when delegates were invited to sign The Jerusalem Affirmation of the Nicene Faith. I was honoured to add my signature alongside Christian leaders from around the world, publicly affirming my own biblical conviction to stand against antisemitism and to stand with Israel.

The summit also prompted me to reflect on what this means for our ministry here in Canada. At a subsequent meeting of our Board of Directors, I asked the Board to consider whether Inspire Christian Media Ministries should formally affirm its organizational and biblical alignment with the Nation of Israel and the Jewish people in their right to exist in freedom and safety. Following thoughtful discussion, the motion was unanimously approved.

History reminds us that hatred flourishes when good people remain silent. My time in Jerusalem strengthened my conviction that this is a moment for Christians to respond with biblical truth, humility, courage, and love.

The Jerusalem Affirmation of the Nicene Faith

The following is the declaration that I personally signed while attending the Jerusalem Summit in Jerusalem. It reflects my personal participation in the summit and is included here because many readers have asked what Christian leaders were invited to affirm during this historic gathering.

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Lord God of Israel.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, the only-begotten Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; through Him all things were made.

He is the One of whom Moses, the Prophets and all the Hebrew Scriptures bear witness.

For us and for our salvation, to the Jew first and also to the Gentile, He came down from heaven; by the Holy Spirit He was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and was made truly man.

He is the Son of Abraham and of David according to the flesh, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of His people Israel.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried.

On the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, as the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root and Offspring of David.

From there He shall come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom shall have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church, in which Jew and Gentile are reconciled as one new man in Christ, and in which the nations, having been grafted into the cultivated olive tree by faith, share in the covenants and promises given through Israel.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
